added mobilehotspot...can I add it to my desktop?
I see it in applications but I can't seem to get a shortcut to put it on my desktop. As an aside after starting it (I am on tmobile usa) I could ping the phone from my laptop but I could go no further. but first things first, can't it be added to the desktop?

Yeah, I have the same trouble, can't add it to desktop. What i did do was to move it up to the top in the app menu to make it easily accessible..

Re: added mobilehotspot...can I add it to my desktop?
While I'm here I'll give you a couple of things I found out about the program, as it has a few quirks:
First, make sure you disconnect from internet connection before you press start, other wise instead of starting up a connection it shuts it down (and then re-starts it when you press stop) When you press start it will ask you to select a connection. If you accidentally select nothing, or the wrong one, activate it by pressing your status bar before you press stop. Then you'll find it is shut down by the program. Then starting it again will ask you to select again. Otherwise if you cancel the connection and then press stop, when you press start again it won't ask you to select a connection. Also i found you can double tap the 'stop' button to restart the connection, which I find i need to do from time to time.. |

Re: added mobilehotspot...can I add it to my desktop?
Err, maybe because Mobile Hotspot works? I own Joikuspot, but unfortunately since some of us are overclocked Joikuspot doesn't work too easily (yes, there are command line workarounds) - whereas Mobile Hotspot just plays well with overclocking.

Re: added mobilehotspot...can I add it to my desktop?
There is another way to do this. It turns out that MobileHotspot provides a mobilehotspot.desktop file. Do the following to setup:
1. Start Terminal app sudo gainroot cd /usr/share/applications/hildon rm mobilehotspot.desktop cp /opt/mobilehotspot/resources/mobilehotspot.desktop . Then follow the usual steps for adding a shortcut in the desktop and app will be in the list and voila! Hope this helps. |
