I've already bought and returned one charger - the BL-5J didn't fit in it!

A cheap charger that advertises that it works with the N900.

The ones I've bought don't have brand names.

Just type cheap n900 external charger into google and start looking. It won't be the first one, but you will find plenty of them.

It's around USD4-5 with the spare battery suitable for N900, charging unit and USB cable.

I bought it from the shop so no Amazon product number can be provided. ;)

I bought one from ebay which I think is this one. It works well for me, including the USB output which can simultaneously charge a second battery in the phone via the phone's USB cable.

I use 2 external charger:

1. http://www.eastmaze.com/Desktop-Batt...p904.html?c=42 . There's overcharging protection. I think it charges the batt more accurately than charging over micro usb method (Usb cable/ original nokia adapter)

2. Proporta 3400 usb turbocharger. http://www.proporta.com/F02/PPF02P05...662&t_mode=des . It's very handy if you want to charge while on the move

lol, I've a similar universal charger, and I always fear it would explode someday.
