Unable to install pidgin internet messenger

I'm having a weird problem.
I already installed pidgin messenger before.

But whenever i run an update, there's always 3 pidgin plugins (bonjour & same, conv, i forgot the other one) that won't update, and those 3 are always there whenever i run an update...

It always give me "unable to update" error

So i tried to uninstall all pidgin apps and its plugins.
Hoping to get rid of the errors.

But when i tried to install pidgin internet messenger again, it gives me
"unable to install pidgin internet messenger"
without no error explanation or something like that..

How is this possible?
Is there any package that i should install first ?
btw I tried to install Pidgin protocols plugin for Conversations and Contacts and it works, so the problem only persist to the messenger.
I've tried to restart the device too but it still doesn't work.

I had this too but it also managed to get itself stuck asking for dependencies, I can't remember the exact details but it had something to do with the extra protocols package wanting to install but it depended on a new version.

This caused apt-get to not install or remove anything ;__________; apt-get install -f just resulted in a error everytime so in the end I just had to run

dpkg -r pidgin

This solved it. Just a heads up if someone else gets the same error.

Tried that and it says :

warning : ignoring request to remove pidgin, only the config files of which are on the system.
Use --purge to remove them too

Hmmm, are you running this as root?

Try

apt-get autoclean
apt-get autoremove
apt-get purge pidgin
dpkg -r pidgin

I spent a lot of time on this and can't remember the exact steps :P

Have you got testing and devels enabled? could be some sort of confusion, if they're currently disabled i'm enable them now and try again. Or, failing that, uninstall pidgin and conversations plugin etc, then try to reinstall.

Re: Unable to install pidgin internet messenger

apt-get purge pidgin
dpkg -r pidgin

and to install it back you have to force the install..first install libpurple0 package and then dpkg -i --force-overwrite pidgin.deb

I've installed the libpurple0 package, but i get error when i run

dpkg -i --force-overwrite pidgin.deb

or

dpkg -i --force-overwrite pidgin_2.7.5-1nix0_armel.deb

Neither works and i get this error :
"error processing, cannot access archive, no such file or directory"

Is the name wrong?
