3G on AT&T?
Hi all,
AT&T announced a upgrade of their 3G system to a HSPA+ sometime back in May. Will our N900 will be able to get on 3G under this new network? |
Re: 3G on AT&T?
No, because the frequencies will still be wrong.

Re: 3G on AT&T?
Yeah... I'm still stuck on the Edge train as well.
|
Re: 3G on AT&T?
so there's no hope then unless we switch to T-mobile? Even if AT&T upgrades to 4G?
|
Re: 3G on AT&T?
Even though this is a hackable phone can I safely assume that
its nearly impossible for someone to open the N900 up and actually change the frequency??? Has it ever been tried? |
Re: 3G on AT&T?
Well unless if you can fit in the N8's chip on the N900 then no it won't work.. :)

Re: 3G on AT&T?
the 3g on AT&T is on a frequency that the hardware is completely incapable of receiving.
you would need to like, desolder your frequency chip and put on a new one or some other pretty much impossible way. unfortunately. I read on wikipedia that there is something called 2.75g. but I dont really tihnk AT&T would go through the trouble to upgrade all the existing stuff to get it. |
Re: 3G on AT&T?
at&ts edge network is usually qualified as being 2.75g
there is edge evolution out there too. but lets just say... no, there is no 3g with at&t. no 4g with at&t. nothing beyond edge. i switched to tmo just for 3g and i will save around $1800 over the next two years on my will and i have an even better plan than with at&t and no contract :D |
