Tasker for N900
 

I would love to see Tasker or a similar for N900.

Tasker is an automator for tasks on Android. For instance start gPodder to find new podcasts when the the phone finds it's home WiFi, or launch music player when you connect your headphones or switch your phone to silent after midnight.

Is there something similar being built for Maemo or Meego?

There isn't any 1 program to do all that. There are various tools and programs to help you automate stuff:

• System Event Scheduler
• alarmed

There may be one or three that I've missed.

There's no application like tasker that makes it easy. But if you know how to use the Linux terminal you can do the same thing.
