Hamachi VPN on N800
Saw this on Hamachiwiki.com yesterday and thought it was pretty interesting. First time I've really started thinking about picking up a tablet.
Hamachi is basically a software based VPN that traverses NAT devices/firewalls etc. Basically allows you to put any machine, anywhere on the same network. Long story short, they made a console port for the N800 so that you can place the tablet on the same network as your PCs. So, this is cool for both business and home use. I can take my n800 to any wireless hotspot and access the same resources as my business or home: Intranet sites, secure web browsing, maybe even file transfer? Anyhow, digg link: http://digg.com/software/Hamachi_on_...terntet_Tablet <edit> And of course, you guys already have a article on it: http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...ead.php?t=6532 </edit> |

Really old news but it's still an awesome app :)
I'll probably resurrect my Hamachi frontend project. I wish I could write a status bar app in Python... |
Re: Hamachi VPN on N800
As you say old news, with a Yes Please to a GUI development for Hamachi!
A Hamachi GUI running on the Nokia 770 & N800 will be really great, opening up it's use to all Internet Tablet Users. A secure VPN to your home network or a family member or friends has lot's of possibilities, only restricted by the mind  Just think of all the applications that could use it, Canola, Media Streamer, VNC & even the TVersity Flash GUI are just some examples ;) I was recently looking a Quamachi which got me wondering about the possibilities of a version on the N800 http://www.kde-apps.org/content/show...?content=55089 |
