N900 and Honda USB port
I just bought a Honda with a USB port for audio. The manual lists iPods/iPhones that work and says USB memory sticks also work. And on a Honda forum I see people with Android phones say the car recognizes the music on their internal memory cards. But when I attach the N900 it just says "unsupported" (in either mass storage mode or PC Suite). I know this can't be known for sure, but I am curious if anyone could suggest a reason why the N900 would not work? Seems like mass storage is pretty standard...I guess I am lucky that it does appear to charge the phone, so that's a plus.
[Also, just putting this 'out there' for others who may wonder if it will work. ] |
Re: N900 and Honda USB port
This may be because the N900 does not support USB host natively, but if you do a do a quick search then you should find the USB Host BETA thread which may resolve this for you?
Other options for you are either using the Headphone jack (+Cable if you have a port) or the absolutely AWESOME FM transmitter App that is available via the app manager. This can not only transmit your personal tunes but also tie in with internet Radio and transmit 100s of radio stations in to your car or any other RF device. A much better option IMO :) |
Re: N900 and Honda USB port
Maybe if you have a micro SD card inserted two drives show up? Have you tried plugging it in without an internal card?

Re: N900 and Honda USB port
No, this has nothing to do with the phone not natively supporting host mode. The honda stereo is hosting.

Re: N900 and Honda USB port
Thanks for the thoughts all. I will give it more time to recognize (per arora.rhoan) and try it without the memory card (jflatt).

Re: N900 and Honda USB port
So, I tried the phone without the microSD card and no difference. And I waited 60 seconds and it still had "unsupported" on the stereo.
