Meego's most appropriate soundtrack
I am both fascinated and repelled by Meego. Don't like the idea of leaving an already familiar environment like Maemo, but I'm absolutely curious of where all this is going to go.
While I was thinking of all these engineers, developers, managers and marketing professionals, working on a thing that may reveal huge in the next future, I reminded of a song of the Alan Parsons Project which might be a good soundtrack for such an enterprise. So, if you like, enjoy Ammonia Avenue: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvkeDrmTCZE |
Re: Meego's most appropriate soundtrack
Ah, good song.
From an entirely philosophical point of view, consider that many of the people involved have grown up in the Linux & related open source communities and helped build this ecosystem and worked to get us where we are. So, MeeGo's really the best shot (and last, I'd say) for having a mobile platform for all these future devices that's actually real GNU/Linux, instead of something that really is the biggest NIH around (Android) and ignoring most of the mobile work being done in the past in open source. So that's why people are passionate about this. If we don't strike now, we're out. And if MeeGo fails, well, we can all go home and leave the stage and never see 'real' Linux on the devices that'd make up our future. If it fails, all we've contributed during the years have been for nothing. I think we're on the right path because of the interest, personally. But doubt is of course always there.. |
