Bluetooth Internet Sharing with Laptop

Is there any way to connect to my laptop via bluetooth and share the internet with my n800?

Bluetooth is slow. I wonder whether I could connect my laptop to my 800 via USB and then share an Internet connection...

Actually there is a new BT standard that is much faster. Bluetooth 2.0 specification with EDR (Enhanced Data Rates).

Actually, having the ability to connect to a computer via bluetooth (or wifi in adhoc?) to get the n800 connected to the internet would be useful. I am imagining its just a matter configuring software to do this? or am I missing something?

For eample, one place I've wanted to use my tablet has one computer on a wired network, if I could connect my n800 to that box via bT and use the network that would be very useful.

search forum for 'bluetooth PAN'
both n770 and n800 does not support it out of box but it is possible to do it with custom script which sets up the network. Also n800 needs some additional trickery due to DUMMY IAP feature not working, on n770 it is bit easier.

It is possible to set up Ad-Hoc wi-fi in n800. Just setup wi-fi connection manually, via connection manager. When you're setting up advanced parameters, there is option to use ad-hoc networking as well rather than anything else. Not tested if this works since I have wi-fi router but option is still here, come on, give it a try.

It's funny that you mention this. I am currently battling the shared network abilities on my ThinkPad T42. At one point I had my n800 and my wife's iBook on the network connected via wifi then ethernet on my T42 for an entire 20 minutes... then it died. Well - that beat the 2.5 minutes I was getting earlier... I am not sure why it works for a little while then goes kaput, but I think I will be shopping around for an inexpensive wifi router in Prague soon... I wonder if IKEA sells them?
