Re: n900 thinks keyboard is closed
Which region or country are you located in? If you're lucky enough to be in the right countries, you might be able to get Nokia or a repair outlet for them to fix it for you. Are you within the warranty period?

Re: n900 thinks keyboard is closed
no i have no warrnty since i replaced my screen and panel bymyself a while ago
any way to know which part is problamatic? |
Re: n900 thinks keyboard is closed
If you can convince Nokia that it was caused by general usage, then they may repair it for free (provided you are still covered by the warranty). But as you know the manufacturers guarantee does not cover accidental damage.
In this case you may have to take it to a local professional. :( EDIT: Sorry, did not see your last post |
Re: n900 thinks keyboard is closed
problem is that there is no local proffesional here
but if ill know what to replace or fix ill do it bymyself EDIT: i found out that if locked when i drop the device on the table from about an inch screen turns on-i mean unlocks and all sorts of variations thanks to sharp movments like its trying to recognize that keyboard is opend but its broken so it dosent work properly |

Re: n900 thinks keyboard is closed
I'd load up Health Check and see what it's reporting. The drop test may be a detect on the power button or the slide-lock button. I'd bet that the alignment in the rail sensors is off just a hair now and it's not picking up the magnet. (The rail detects are magnetic, which is why a magnet positioned just right can cause the device to unlock.)
It could also be something as simple as a connector being jarred slightly out of place. If you're comfortable opening it up (apparently you are), I'd say open it and poke around. If it's just a loose connector, the act of opening it and putting it back together could fix it. |
Re: n900 thinks keyboard is closed
so if its the magnetic rail
buying a new one should solve the problem? EDIT: at least can someone send me a picture of the magnet and the magnet sensor? |
Re: n900 thinks keyboard is closed
Like I said... you might want to get someone to o/~ look at it o/~

Re: n900 thinks keyboard is closed
Just for a temporary fix, does anyone know what software command is executed when the phone is slid open/closed.
If so, maybe you could make a simple dbus script to tell the phone when you want it open and when you want it closed Just a thought, I wouldn't know where to begin |
