I swear the design looks like something out of Star trek or Something. The design is certainly interesting and I have always wanted a to have a portable equivalent to a 27inch moniter. Acer is declaring that the physical keyboard is dead and should be replaced with a second screen. Of course this design was used on the Toshiba Libretto w105. The specs are pretty beefy too it has a core i5, 4gb of ram, 750GB hard drive, optional 3G and even a working USB 3.0 port. I'm concerned this won't improve my productivity and removing the keyboard is pointless endeavor and that the battery life would suck. Maybe this is the laptop of the future? |
Re: Acer Iconia
For me the future is projected screens where you don't have to worry about how glossy there or fingerprints, either that or pressure sensitive touchscreens that provide physical feedback like real buttons. Though the concept of Iconia is pretty cool.

Re: Acer Iconia
This is not the future.
What would the second screen really be useful for? If it was a touchscreen + (keyboard and touchpad), it would be more functional, in my humble opinion. I think the future is actually hologram projections that respond to touch/gestures (similar to Star Wars). -------------------------------------------- By the way, anyone seen this? http://www.engadget.com/2011/01/03/i...nced-includes/ The Intel Core i7 2657M, seems to have ~2x (or more) the performance of the SU7300 at the same battery life. Whoa, impressive! This would mean new ultra-ultraportable devices (less than 14" and over 6 hours battery life). If this gets partnered with the ATi 5650 (or its successor), this will bring serious gaming to ultra-portable devices *drools* |
