Running x86 linux binaries in the N900?
 

There is all this fuss about getting Wine to work and run Windows programs on the N900; what about running x86 linux binaries?


If there is any chance of running Windows binaries with anything close to decent speed, i would expect that running x86 binaries already ported to linux would be significantly easier and at much better performance. How far has this approach gone so far?

The problem is the same in both cases - the N900 has an ARM processor, not an x86, so you need to run a hardware emulator. That should be possible (there may be a qemu build for ARM already) but it'll add a real slowdown.

Or you could do binary translation, using Transitive-type tools.

Hm, why that thread didn't show in the list of similar threads when i was creating this one? :/
