Space Key Split in Two - Replacement Keypad?
 

Is this common? My space key has developed a crack right down the middle and is getting difficult to press.

I am guessing I will need to buy a replacement keypad? Are these easy to replace?

Had a look on ebay and can only see the keypad for sale with no accompanying tools to take the N900 apart.

The one with tools included tend to be more expensive and have a whole new fascia unit which I am not interested in buying.

Any advice would be appreciated.

If I recall correctly, you need one small cross head screwdriver and a T6 screwdriver. The keyboard itself is pretty easy to remove. Best of luck sourcing a replacement.

With great precision, you could just repair it. Super glue and pop it back on.

.. but its not a problem that will be fixed under warranty nor can you buy keyboard mats per se I don't think... :/

It's not a brand new N900 so no warranty.

Did see a replacement keypad on ebay but does not come with the T6 - whilst the whole Fascia replacement kit does - but I dont need that and its too expensive

I'd love to see a picture of this.
On a related note the replacement parts one finds on Ebay to change the N900 from black to white never have a white keyboard. Wonder why that is.
My N900's keyboard has a couple of keys that soon will have had all the black paint rubbed off, so it will look pretty awful. So I am going to need to replace too...

Don't worry about finding one that comes with the tools, T6 screwdrivers are fairly easy to find. I found a whole set of torx screwdrivers at Maplin for £5, worked great repairing the N900 and two other phones.

For £3.90 it's cheap enough so that I might buy one just to find out and to keep it as a spare, just in case I ever need one :)

That ebay part looks clearly fake/a knock off.

Quite expensive (£14), but I've seen it mentioned in lots of places as the best site for OEM parts.

I thought it might be fake at that price but still I'm intrigued enough to find out what it looks like!

Thanks for that link, looks like that is the best place to get genuine Nokia replacement parts.
