Broken USB Port..?
 

Hey all,


My fiancees N900 wont charge properly anymore.

Far as I can tell the port hasnt broken off the board but if you slightly bend the wall charger connection up towards the screen it will charge.
But you have to hold it there..

There was gunk in the port but cleaning it out has changed nothing.. Help please.

It has no warranty and was bought from the US originally.

Same thing happened to me. My solution was to buy a 2nd battery (be careful, lots of fakes out there!) and a wall charger and I just swap the batteries at night. I actually have a 3rd battery and another charge now in case I use the phone a lot during the day and need another battery.

One of the contacts on the mobo has become loose.
You can solder it back together yourself, but you need a very steady hand and the precision of a poop-throwing primate for such a thing to end in success.

exactly the same happened to me. i have to wedge it under the sofa to charge it. bought a new n900, couldnt be bothered to send it off. its definatly broken.

would attempt to dissasemble and solder USB port back up myself, but not sure if I could do it without f**king it totally. Go the service manual and I see theres many parts you cannot re-use..

any suggestions as to where I can take it to get USB soldered back on?

im seriously BAD at soldering, no way Im gonna try to do it, the phone will not work at all if I do it..............
