N900 Screen Problem
Hey guys
Today I was playing NFSU while coming home on my N900 when suddenly my screen flashed and turned off, at first I thought my device's battery has finished but I had a bad feeling that why didn't I got a battery low notification. I tried several restarts but that failed too, there was no display at all on the screen. Came home, connected the phone to the charger but still no luck. Then I noticed that the keyboard and all other functions are working and I can receive calls and SMS( can't read them though). Its just the screen that stopped working out of no where and I can't even see the Nokia boot logo. The touch screen seems to also be working. I connected my phone to my LCD using TV out but there was only a grey display. I am going to give it in RMA but I would like to know if anyone else had faced this problem and what was the solution. Thanks. |

Re: N900 Screen Problem
hmmmm.... i use to have those kind of problem before but my method to fix it is different....
first off all do not try it if you dont know what your are doing..i wont take any responsibility if something bad happen to you n900... ok...my method is... i dissamble my phone (n900 screen) unplug the main ribbon & plug the ribbon back & re-assemble my phone back....restart & my problem solve....now i dont have that kind of problem anymore.... remember my method might not works on your phone...if you afraid to do it then dont cause there might be my phone problem is different from you.... |
Re: N900 Screen Problem
i tried that before. it works for a while but the problem comes back after some time. i also tried just to disconnect the screen from the mainboard and thats usually enough to get it working... maybe some leftover electricity in the screen components or something? or maybe it's still software issue? it only happens after the screen is locked or turned off..

Re: N900 Screen Problem
This is sooooo weird.
when i plug charger in (while the phone is off) i get the usual dim charging mode logo with no baclight. and when i press the power button while it is charging, my phone boots and works normally until i lock the screen or the screen is turned off by timeout.. BUT, if i try to boot Without the charger plugged in, i get no logos or backlights whatsoever and i noticed that the short vibration that usually comes when the device is booted is missing too. LED works normally though... Software issue? i have done two reflashes and it haven't yet fixed the problem.... While writing this, the screen went off again twice. first time it turned on when i used the lock switch and the second time it came back on only after charger was plugged in.... |
