My N900 came back from the DEAD.

About 3-4 weeks ago, my n900's touch screen stopped working.

I tried almost everything to fix it but to no avail. It was a sad day
but I didn't stopped there. I bought a tochscreen online and tried
to fix it myself and....... BOOM!

It's back again and WORKING!!! Thanks again for this informative
board.

It kinda gave me a good learning experience because it kinda
pushes myself to learn a lot of things more about these phone.

I'm so glad it broke and I'm so glad I fixed it :D

I'm throwing a party right now!!!!!

To give back to this community care to share how you managed to fix it or just link to thread where you found solution.

Just for info, probably many of us know this already.

The LCD on the N900 is separate from the resistive grid / screen - you can buy each part separately so if your touch screen fails there is a decent chance you can restore functionality with a new one. The touch screen costs around $40 USD so I guess no harm in trying :-)

To replace this part is a relatively painless operation, just google for an N900 disassembly video and follow along as far as you need to go.

Made similar experience after dropping the phony from about 3 meters. It was really exciting to disassemble the device but after all it was quite easy to fix the damaged parts (display frame and slider) and during this operation I replaced my keymat in the same manner. ;)

take it from someone who has taken his screen apart a few times.

mind any dust when the screen's are apart. i spent about 1 hour with one of my many led lights and a brush and an air can, trying to get the dust out......
Other than that it is very straight forward job.

If you want it to stay dead you have to shoot it in the head.
