Android SD card issues

After installing Nitdroid on my phone in order to try out how it works, i decided to format my sd card and wipe it clean. It was 8GB, and now it is only 5.5gb no matter how many times I format it. Where did the other 2.5gb go?

They are used for.Nitdroid.
Your SD was repartioned during install.

A format wont help. You need to repartition.
