1) Yes, battery will last at least 1.5 - 2 days (after PR1.3 update). 2) I would buy the E7. I know Google Nexus S is a great phone, but sorry, I'm a bit (negatively) biased for Samsung phones. I don't like HTC because of their known high SAR levels. Another choice could be Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro (for the Playstation feature :p) If you have time to read through some threads, you'll see other recommendations. The N900 may lose out on some hardware specs (since it was launched in 2009), so, you should compare based on price factor as well (does not make sense to compare the N900 with iPhone 4, but more realistic to compare with iPhone 3Gs). I really like my N900. It's an awesome phone (even though I stay clear of development stuffs). If you can get over the form factor (brick), then the other issues are really subjective. Note of caution: N900 does not support 3G video call and voice navigation for Ovi maps (but you can overcome with Sygic maps I understand) Recommended read to help you make up your mind! ‐ The ultimate smartphone guide Nokia, WinMo, iPhone, Android, Blackberry ‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐ ‐‐‐‐‐ ‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐ http://www.t3.com/feature/best-smart...e-buyers-guide http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php...170#post953170 |
Re: To buy or not to buy
Yes Samsung phones in my experience are not very good.....
on the battery part check my battery post, which is about to be updated with the GOLD battery which i am testing right now, but all ready can report is FAKE as i knew, but now it will go on the list when testing is complete i don't have any other choices besides the N900 because there are no other phones (YET) that can do what i need better than the N900 but looking to gizmag an such, there are some interesting things in the works, like the computer/smartphone that runs Windows 7 (REAL windows 7, no Windows Phone 7), this would be a very interesting device with one change, throw out stupid heavy resource boring crappy WIN7, and throw a linux dist on it with the added phone functions, and of course a HW keyboard oh yes the link...... http://www.gizmag.com/windows-packin...nveiled/17998/ |
Re: To buy or not to buy
If your a Linux fan buy one, I did couple of weeks back have not regretted it. Battery should be fine I'm connected to 3G all the time and have no problems getting a full day and nights usage.
If I did not have the n900 I'd be using my old $20 Ericsson. |
