Re: how to install gingerbread help needed?

You need to have a MicroSD installed to be able to boot into Nitdroid even if you install it on the emmc. Follow this link and follow it VERBATIM ok?

You don't need a microsd - I installed it and have it running without, mainly using that tutorial you linked to.

Well it did not work for me until I put the sdcard in. And that was all I had to do. I did not need to change the the multiboot file.

When I take out the sdcard and alter the multiboot file accordingly, I get a guru meditation error...

Re: how to install gingerbread help needed?

Nitdroid needs a 2Gb sd card to work so use that one. Froyo is suggested untill there is a more stable version of gingerbread. Nitdroid's speed depends on the class of the sd card. It should say it on the card. Class 6 or better is good. If you install Nitdroid on the sd card it won't slow down maemo.

I am giving you full instruction, Which will not need mmc:

1. Install root (apps manager )
2.Install leafpad (apps manager)
3.Download gingerbread for your n900 (google)

Plz don't do any mess with x-terminal

Now,
Open x-terminal
type: root
apt-get update
apt-get install nitdroid-installer
then it ask to type "Yes"
Open new x-terminal
type root
cd /home/user/MyDocs/
bzip2 -d gingerbread.tar.bz2 (wait for some time)
cd /
mkdir /and
cd /
mount /home /and
cd /and
tar xvf /home/user/MyDocs/gingerbread.tar
dpkg -i /home/user/MyDocs/NITDroid-kernel-Mido.Fayad.deb (you have to download this file)
open new x-termnal
leafpad /etc/multiboot.d/1 (then press tab on your screen)

The its done
don't forget to press thamks button

Re: how to install gingerbread help needed?

Instuctions for mmc (2GB):

Download these to N900 (the folder that has Camera, Images and Documents folders)
Download Froyo OR Gingerbread
Download kernel

Install Nitdroid dependecies and boot menu:
Code:

root
apt-get install nitdroid-installer multiboot multiboot-kernel-maemo

Remove the Nitdroid icon so you won't accidentally install an old version
Code:

root
rm /usr/share/applications/hildon/nitdroid-installer.desktop

Format sd card:
Code:

mke2fs -L NITDroid -j -m0 /dev/mmcblk1p1
Install Nitdroid:
(If you downloaded Gingerbread change NITDroid-0.0.9.tar.bz2 to gingerbread.tar.bz2.)
Code:

root
mkdir /and
mount /dev/mmcblk1p1 /and
cd /and
tar xvjf /home/user/MyDocs/NITDroid-0.0.9.tar.bz2
dpkg -i /home/user/MyDocs/NITDroid-kernel-Mido.Fayad.deb
