IR receiver via headphone port?
Check this out:
http://hackaday.com/2011/03/01/iphon...sal-ir-remote/ The 2.5mm jack supports a microphone, I wonder if it would be possible to hook up an IR LED in a detector configuration to the microphone pins, and parse the sound that comes in? |
Re: IR receiver via headphone port?
It sure is possible. However it's such a fruitless means when we already have a fully functional IR RX port built in. Find the codes elsewhere and use LIRC(d) or QtIrreco.
SquareUp Mag Stripe reader + MagRead does this (audio input parsing and decoding) on the N900 already. |
Re: IR receiver via headphone port?
We have a fully functional TX port. RX is missing. That means that if you want to 'learn' a new remote you need a pc.

Re: IR receiver via headphone port?
I'm pretty sure that it can be done.
I think the easiest solution would to power the receiver over the usb receiver of the n900 (this works) and use irrecord to record (this doesn't work because irrecord isn't build with the alsa-sound plugin). So if anyone rebuild the package I could try it out :D I have everything laying around  |
Re: IR receiver via headphone port?
where can you get an ir dongle to 3.5" jack? does someone know?

Re: IR receiver via headphone port?
Another idea, is it possible to use the front camera to learn the IR-code's?? That's a lot easier, no extra hardware required, just somebody who write a program for it....... anybody?????:D:D:D

Re: IR receiver via headphone port?
No, the iR sequences are really too fast for the cameras of the N900.

Made this thing for my old IPAQ 110. Didn't work back then, doesn't work on my n900 now(used wav files from http://www.rtfms.com/episode-4-turn-...sal-remote.htm ) :(
oo and this will make a transmitter only! , not receiver, so it's useless for n900 since we already have one. The best solution would be to buy one of http://www.lirc.org/html/table.html#@hw-usb those and compile module for n900. |
