Is there a way to prevent firefox rotating to portrait mode?

i just do not see any reason to use a browser in portrait mode.

I know I can use Ctrl-Shift-R, but it should IMHObe an option in firefox itself, like many other apps have it.

Good question... I have opened about:config and try accelerometer.enabled = false
No change even after restart.

You can press control-shift-o to lock the screen orientation in Firefox for Maemo. Firefox will store this setting in its preferences. (You can also see it in about:config as "toolkit.screen.lock".)

@mbrubeck

Do you know a conclusive list of fennec keyboard shortcuts?
And is there a way to get maito links and volume rocker zoom working in the Qt build?(both work fine in gtk build but Qt build is faster for me)

Here are some lists:

The first link is a little out of date; I submitted an update which will be published as soon as someone reviews it. (It's just missing a couple of new shortcuts: Ctrl+Shift+T for Undo Close Tab, and Ctrl+Shift+O for Lock Screen Orientation.)

That sounds like a bug, and I don't know of a workaround. You can report something in Bugzilla, but it might not be fixed unless someone from the community steps up, since Qt is not officially supported on Maemo. Possible related:

How recent a version of Firefox do you need to get this functionality working? I'm using the old 1.1 release, and while it has a "toolkit.screen.lock" entry in about:config that you can set, that doesn't stop it from rotating the screen...

The screen lock preference should work in Firefox 1.1 and later. If it isn't, there must be a bug... I can't find any known bugs or other useful information, sorry.

It's also not working in 4b6pre 20110305 (gtk). I get the popup "screen orientation locked" and it sets toolkit.screen.lock to true, but it still rotates happily......

You need to use Ctrl+Shift+O to lock it. Changing it in the about:config manually doesn't seems to worl. But the keyboard shortcut works.

Nope, it doesn't. The ctrl+shift+o is what I used. I got the popup that orientation is locked and it creates the toolkit.screen.lock=true, but it still rotates.
