QtIrreco - does it work?

I've installed it but when I try and load a remote from the database the list is empty...is it now defunct or am I doing something wrong?

It does work, I've tested it on several TVs. The trick I've found is sometimes the exact model is not there, but a similar model will be (maybe same name but different ID etc. Both models will have the same remote and so you can use it.

Also it relies on people uploading their IR codes for the remotes, and hence will not have all remotes. You can make your own IR codes by purchasing an IR receiver and logging the codes (you'd need to google how to do that, I've never needed to and hence have no experience).

As for downloading from the database, are you sure your connected to the internet? How are you downloading the remotes? What options have you chosen?

I've used it and it works. It can be difficult at times.

ive never used an easier app before the first time i used it months ago it never worked so uninstalled it. This is due to my tv being a flat screen but a cheap brand soniq. just got a new LG and the app worked first go awsome as i love it. My girlfriend hates it lol as i annoy her with channel surfing

Yes connected to the internet on 3g, same connection as I'm writing this from. I will try on wifi when I get home.

I've tried both 'download remote' and 'download from DB' in the main menu but in both cases I just get a blank list (it has the headings like "manufacturer" but nothing listed underneath). No remotes to download at all.

Re: QtIrreco - does it work?

I now have remotes for EVERYTHING that uses IR remote in my house working flawlessly. thanks to Qtirreco
Go to http://lirc.sourceforge.net/remotes to find remote files for your device.
Then read last 5 or so pages of
http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=37655
to learn how to use them. Esp Cue's posts.

The only thing that's not that great is the range of the IR.

Re: QtIrreco - does it work?

Hmm...I've now tried via my home wifi instead of 3g, and for some reason, the remotes in the database are now available.

qtIrreco works fine for me on my Panasonic 54". Remote is for a different Panasonic, but trial and error is your friend.
