Charging the N900 from a PC/USB wall adapter?
Hi All,
Can some please clarify if it's possible to charge the N900 from a USB port on a PC/laptop or from a USB wall adapter, such as: http://www.belkin.com/IWCatProductPa...duct_Id=400738 I'd like to run a USB cable from the USB port on PC/wall adapter to the N900. A proper USB port should provide around 4.4V to 5V and up 500mA. Is this enough for charging?. Second, there are repeated threads here mentioning the N900 doesn't charge with any USB cable. Can someone please clarify? how do I know a certain USB cable will allow the N900 to charge? are there some special markings on the cable or do I need some additional adapter?. Thanks, Mike. |
Re: Charging the N900 from a PC/USB wall adapter?
You can charge the N900 from a usb port using the usb lead, you must have the relevent cable drivers installed on your pc to do this as in PCSUITE ok.
To use a non standard wall charger you will have to have the 2 middle pins shorted out for the N900 to see the wall charger otherwise a Nokia wall charger will obviously work. Hope this helps. |

thanks. I do not want to use a dedicated Nokia wall charger. how do I short those two pins? surely there are ready-made cable for charging the n900?.

One of my friends has an entry-level Huawei G6620 cell phone, which comes with a charger that consists of an USB cable that attaches to what seems to be a mere plug 2 usb adapter, consisting in your wall adapter. Maybe this piece of info might be of use to you.
