Data leak
How come every time i connect to the internet with my N900, it downloads around 25MB of data? And thats before i open any browser or anything else that might use the internet. The only thing that is connected is the email app which is actually downloading only the headers of my 3 email accounts! (Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo)
Has anyone else noticed that? For those of us who don't have unlimited data, this amount is quite allot! |
Re: Data leak
Many threads about it already since the N900 was released. It's usually caused by downloading your email and checking for software updates (downloading all the repository data). Especially if you have extras-testing and/or extras-devel it can be a lot.
You can change the update check interval, for example: gconftool -s -t int /apps/hildon/update-notifier/check_interval 10080 will set it to only check once a week. Or set it to some really huge number of minutes to effectively make it never check. For email the only way to make it stop is to disable automatic email checks entirely, as far as I know. |
Re: Data leak
Weird. lsof -i could show you the application which is doing this.

Re: Data leak
Thank you for the info guys!
It looks like its the email client!...i disabled automatic check and after connecting, the data transfer was almost 0kb... Am i suppose to see some code after entering the script of disabling the update interval? cause all i see after pressing enter, is the ~$ sign...thank you again! |
