Lost English names after NITDroid Uninstall

So I followed the instructions on the NITDroid Easy Install WIKI page to uninstall NITDroid from EMMC, then via the default file manager, I formated the SD card successfully.

Afterwards, i removed all the folders listed from the home folder: bin, data, dev, etc (symlink), initrd, lib (symlink), mnt, proc, sbin, sdcard, sys, system, tmp, usr, default.prop, init, init.nokia.rc, init.rc

And I think I may have deleted the wrong folder or file because this i what I currently see:

http://www.mynokian900.com/wp-conten...320-194100.png

http://www.mynokian900.com/wp-conten...320-195459.png

But is seems it's only the system names that are affected, because my later application installations seem to be fine:

  1. Has anyone seen this before?
  2. Is there a simple fix or not?

I sense I am less than an hour away from a Reflasher, which is not a problem, more of an inconvenience because I have a helleva lot of applications, but I would like to know for future purposes what could possibly have caused this problem and if it can be fixed.

One of the problems for sure is me fiddling too much - :o

Thanks.

Re: Lost English names after NITDroid Uninstall

After playing to much with tools like localepurge and bleachbit, I recently had the same problem.
A possible solution is:
dpkg -l | grep engb | awk '/^ii/ { print $2 }' > packages.txt
(this lists all your installed English language files)
apt-get install --reinstall `cat packages.txt`
(this should reinstall them)
On my system I have trouble with the repos (fiddled to much trying to save some space), so I can't reproduce my solution and redownload the files. But at least in theory it should work.
Tell me, if it worked.

Forgot to say: after reinstallation you should do a reboot ;)

Sadly it has not worked... I am seeing a lot of the same messages:

I rebooted as you mentioned, plugged in my USB cable for some charge and see the same problem for the two options (usbh_bd_usb_mode_pc_suite", and "usbh_bd_usb_mode_mass_storage", which is a sure sign of it not working.

Ah well....

Re: Lost English names after NITDroid Uninstall

i did use moveroot at some point, maybe afew days back, so is there a way to get it all back. I am about to flash my device. Is there a way to fix this Maemo55?

Re: Lost English names after NITDroid Uninstall

one question: are you using English or Italian language? cause I wonder about the "itit"-packages... on the other hand: I've uninstalled all unneeded languages long time ago, so that might be the reason that I never got the exact same error messages when I fixed my problem (my screen looked exactly like yours now).

Wow! i have a brand new Nokia N900... I completely trashed my old EMMC & RootFS, and I've started with a fresh device and actually this is better as over the past year and 3 months I truly installed just about everything. Now I can better document everything I do going foward.

:-)
