[Maemo 5] (Tutorial) How to share files with your contacts im
 

Hello All this is my first post and i'm kinda noob with posts so this tutorial will be so simple (and sorry but no images) cause most of sharing sites are bolcked in my country and i don't have time to search for prxoy so here we go :

at the begininng we will use register a nimbuzz account that supports all kinds of im services and use it with jabber account
(reason):

because we will use a programm called (monorail) or (File Tranfers in the application manager) and that programm only supports jabber so it will be able to send files via jabber + nimbuzz so:

1-) download and install monorail from http://repository.maemo.org/extras-t..._0.4_armel.deb
notice after download just press it in the file manager it should continue automatacly

or install it directly from application manager as with the name (file transfer) recomended for noobs like me :)

2-) we should make a nimbuzz account at

nimbuzz.com

and configure all your services

3-) go to conversation --then-- accounts -- new -- choose jabber

and at the address field enter : xxxx@nimbuzz.com replace xxxx with the user name you have registered at nimbuzz.com

at the password enter your password

then go advanced settings -- scroll down
and in the stun server enter the nimbuzz ip: 195.211.48.21
and for stun port enter : 5222
and leave every thing else as it is
then press sign in

AND DONE

you should see all your nimbuzz contacts and for file sharing you can go to the programm after installed or at the file manager press share -- via im

and i'm sorry because this tutorial is simple i wrote it in my n900
and sorry for no images
if anyone wants to rewrite the tutorial with images no problem :)

for some reason monorail says
Although my jabber nimbuzz account is set right. linked to my icq and i am in the conversation right now with one of my contacts in icq (from n900 with jabber nimbuzz)
Any help?

you need to have one of your contacts online to be able to send/recieve files

btw i didn't have a chance to test thus trick a lot because nimbuzz if forbidden a my country

but at least i could have test it out of my country and it worked perfect
i used msn and gtalk with jabber/nimbuzz

so make sure you hace your account activated successfuly
then tell me what happenes:)


edit : you may need to test nimbuzz from your computer first and make sure that it works with your icq contacts then test it in your n900

I am pretty sure i am doing everything right, i can chat with my contacts through this jabber\nimbuzzz account. and it still doesn't work. Shooot!

hmm that seems to be strange
the problem is i cannot help you anymore cause as i said before nimbuzz is forbidden in my country
maybe it doesn't work with icq or maybe it works if your contacts has nimbuzz

well you can try doing a lot of things to manage it to work
but what i know is that it worked with my msn/jabber account also skype/jabber (when nimbuzz used to have a skype service but they deleted it now)
