Roku remote control over WiFi app?
 

Looking for an N900 app to remote control my Roku XD/S media players (I have 3) over WiFi.

There is a N900 remote control app for Roku Soundbridge, but I'm looking for one that works with the Roku media player.

iPod, iPad, iPhone owners have this:

OK, I'd write this if I knew how to program for the N900. In fact, I just wrote the app in Visual Basic with the Winsock telnet control and can control my Roku box remotely over my LAN using my laptop.

It was ridiculous easy.

telnet 192.168.1.x 8080

Commands:

> press b (back)
> press d (down)
> press f (fwd)
> press h (home)
> press i (info/*)
> press k (exit)
> press l (left)
> press p (pause/play)
> press r (right)
> press s (select/ok)
> press u (up)
> press y (back 10s)

Enter/exit Developer Mode
> press h, press h, press h
> press u, press u
> press r
> press l
> press r
> press l
> press r

Soft Reboot
> press h, press h, press h, press h, press h
> press u
> press b, press b
> press f, press f


I wrote an app for this in VB, but can someone write this for the N900?

Well, I'm a developer so I went ahead and taught myself some Python and I wrote the app.It works really well, but it's a bit rough around the edges (hard-coded IP address for the Roku, for example). I need to learn how to store settings like a user-defined IP address before I share this simple app. Also, I have no idea how to deploy this, I'm just running the app from XTerminal using the python command. I'm sure someone could do much better.
