[Solved] Process quits by themself.
Hello, I have a problem with my N900:
Some process which normally always stay in the background (rtcom-call-ui, rtcom-messaging-ui, osso-adressbook ...) are now stopping themself ~10 minutes after their launch, and are not restarting themself. This not make the phone unusable but this incrase a lot the time nessecary to launch theses apps, especially conversations. Here is what strace say when I atach it to rtcom-messaging-ui: Process 5915 attached - interrupt to quit read(3,*/it stay like that for 10 minutes or so...*/ "\0\0\27\344", 4) = 4 read(3, "\0\0\0\0", 4) = 4 rt_sigaction(SIGHUP, {SIG_DFL, [], SA_RESTART|0x4000000}, NULL, 8) = 0 rt_sigaction(SIGINT, {SIG_DFL, [], SA_RESTART|0x4000000}, NULL, 8) = 0 rt_sigaction(SIGQUIT, {SIG_DFL, [], SA_RESTART|0x4000000}, NULL, 8) = 0 rt_sigaction(SIGTERM, {SIG_DFL, [], SA_RESTART|0x4000000}, NULL, 8) = 0 rt_sigaction(SIGUSR1, {SIG_DFL, [], SA_RESTART|0x4000000}, NULL, 8) = 0 rt_sigaction(SIGUSR2, {SIG_DFL, [], SA_RESTART|0x4000000}, NULL, 8) = 0 rt_sigaction(SIGWINCH, {SIG_DFL, [], SA_RESTART|0x4000000}, NULL, 8) = 0 close(3) = 0 exit_group(0) = ? Process 5915 detached Have you any clue of what can be causing that ? |
Re: Process quits by themself.
I found that concerned process are not quitting if the application stay open, but will close some time after that I close the application, so this definitively looks more like a feature than a bug, but this behaviour is not the one that I have before. May be that it is related with the upgrade to the new version of the CSSU, it started in the same period.
Can you report if theses process are running permanently or are stopping themselves on your devices ? |
Re: [Solved] Process quits by themself.
Ok I have solved my problem by uncommenting the previously commented (by me) lines from /usr/share/applications/hildon/modest.desktop:
X-Maemo-Prestarted=always X-Maemo-Prestarted-Priority=2000 I didn't think that modest was linked with conversations and the phone-ui I'm still looking for a reliable way of saving RAM by not having modest always loaded. Infact that was too much playing with dsmetool that caused that, this method works great for disabling modest, I don't have any problem now. |
