Why it is so hard playing MP4 file ??
 

Hi guys,

I am a little bit desesparating...

I am unable to play mp4 files with default media player.

I am talking about the files downloaded by cuteTube and gPodder.

Please is anyone can help to play them.

Mediaplayer display an unsupported codec file error ..

I already installed "extra codec support".

Do you think the problem can be caused by "kernerl for power user" that i installed ?

what resolution are you trying to play??? if its over 800x480 then it wont play...

Hi,

The video files are normally playable on a iPOD.
In fact i can read them with SMBPlayer (it's a front end mplayer i think).

But i want to read them with default media player, because gPodder can only play videos files in the dafault media player.

In that case, do we need to convert the high resolution videos to 800x480 resolution using any software? But how about the quality of the videos after this convertion!? :confused:

Hi ,

Thanks for your response.

The problem was due to filename of podcast file. It was named as a sound file (.mp3) and it's a video file.

I renamed it in .mp4 and no the default media player can read it..

Concerning the file downloaded from cuteTube the problem still exists.
They are .mp4 file, but not possible to read them (media player, mPlayer, media Box). i don't understand why.
