MeeGO will suport 720p playback on N900?
 

That is my question, actually, the n900 can't play 720p files due a software problem, it's caped to 850x480 and can't play up this resolution....


So... with MeeGO, do you think we can play 720P files, or MOD 720P recording?

Cmon... and similar thread i maded, i answered for RECORDING, no for playback....

So isn't a duplicated thread... i'm talking about MEEGO... no Maemo or Android...

I believe it is due to the drivers being closed source. It's entirely possible that I'm wrong though. I don't really care for such a thing.

EDIT: Just re-read your comment. The issue is likely directly linked. Regardless, I can guarantee that a thread already exists concerning your problem.

it needs to support 720p if not now, maybe later. In the future we wont have any file smaller than 720p

I'm not confident that 720p/1080p DSP accelerated codecs are out in the open and freely redistributable. We do not currently include DSP codecs at all in N900 DE as we need to check if we legally can (royalties, MPEG LA and all that crap). We do have a good guide for installing those on wiki.

If someone can point me to 720p/1080p codecs, maybe someone can make a similar wiki page. I doubt 1080p is possible. 720p recording may have to be without on screen view.

Also, please ask in our IRC channel #meego-arm or on meego-handset@meego.com mailing list instead. MeeGo people don't traditionally hang out here.

Remember MeeGo DE for N900 is not for end-users.
