My N900 on dead bed

I am hoping some can help me resurrect my n900.

Background: I was using a gps app while on a travel. The battery was almost gone so I connected a car charger. Just then the screen went off. I tried putting it on but it won't come on.

Flashing: I was hoping if I charge the battery it will start working again. I was guessing the car charger was not good for it. On return a charge didn't work. So I went on this site and read all the stories of bringing a n900 back to life. I flashed the firmware (inc vanilla). I tried flashing several versions and I still cannot get the phone to boot. At each time flashing succeeds but phone goes into reboot cycles when connected to a power source (usb or powerline).

Is it possible it is totally bricked? What can be done to bring it back into life? I think the warranty has run out on the phone. Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks!

Why did you reflash the firmware, when all that happened is (probably) the charging chip shutting it down for overvoltage? Take out the BL-5J, use a desktop charger, put it back in and it should boot, given the firmware's alright.

If you know someone with a Nokia 5800 try their battery in your phone, see if that helps.
If not, someone here had the same problem and left their battery out for a day or two. When they reinserted it the phone booted first time.

I think it's something to do with the battery monitor not resetting on a full charge (A known bug). The N900 is like a PC so it needs a small amount of power even when the phone is off, (to keep the clock settings etc) Just as a PC needs a CMOS battery to hold the BIOS settings). Remove the power for long enough and it will revert to default settings and hopefully reset the battery monitor.

If he was able to re-flash then his battery was no way dead.

I wish my bed was alive in the first place. :)

on a serious note, could it be a hardware problem if reflashing completely doesn't fix it, like a loose USB slot?

no, i think its a software/harware issue, i heard n900 maybe have a small battery inside, but it dies after a few months.

so after a while being without power it forget setting and gets stuck. (syntom for me its a orange light that stay on)

what works for me its trying to get into bootmode press "u" while connected... or leaving it charging eventually will start "breathing".

just try not let it eat all charge, but if does does tricks always wake it u p

Hmm, my bad for the reflashing. But I have a desktop charger with 2 batteries (SIDO). I have tried all of them and still the same continuous reboots.

I have also left the phone in-charge overnight (with the continuous reboots) and got no result. I will try stickymick suggestion --- leaving battery out for two days and see what happens.

Any joy with this?

Be interesting to know if it actually worked or not.

Naah, no luck. I fully charged a battery externally for 2 days. The battery was removed from the phone for 2 days as well. I inserted the battery and powered on; just as before it shutoff after the NOKIA logo and the small dots. Flashed it again and still the same problem.
