Developing apps for n900
Hi All,
Trust all is well. I'm a gizmo enthusiast and got n900 last year. I installed few application from maemo.org, but now I want to create applications for it. I want to experience the joy of creating an application, seeing it being downloaded and used by others, receiving feedback.I'm a newbie to programming, know few Linux commands. Where can I start and learn to program on my N900? Which programming language? Where can I get the understanding of maemo internals? Is there a best reference guide? What about learning curve? These are a few questions that plague my mind right now. Please advise. Regards, Ashu |
Re: Developing apps for n900
1 - You can start by reading the thousands of documentation in this section :
http://maemo.org/development/ 2 - The programming language is up to you to choose, could be python, C/Cpp... etc. If you know nothing of nothing about these languages, I suggest you to learn the basics first, how they work, and all, it's not thaaaat easy. ( Might be for somes, not for me at least =) 3 - Learning curve? You mean how long will it take for you to learn? Only you can know it... Hope it helps somehow. Edit .: Forgot! This section is also pretty nice if you want to start. |

Re: Developing apps for n900
i suggest you work with qt, its like a framework for building the apps that should save you some work.
there's some tutorials out there that should get you started... |
Re: Developing apps for n900
Look into qml as well. Its a fast easy way of building a front end - hell even a back end.
