i recently flashed my n900 due to reboots after new power kernel was installed, now i can't install preenv at all?

if i do:

apt-get install preenv

i get package not found

or if i download the .deb and try to install it says incompatible?

any ideas? any help appreciated

Re: Preenv: Incompatible application package?

Package not found usually means the repo is not enabled. If you downloaded the deb but it doesn´t want to install with HAM it probably has dependency issue. You can try this from the command line, though and see what happens.

Assuming you have changed directory to the location where your deb file resides.

Code:

root
dpkg -i package.deb

If that doesn´t work, I´d try first as root
Code:

apt-get -f install
and than try again.

Re: Preenv: Incompatible application package?

As root, type

Code:

dpkg --configure -a
to solve conf problems.

Code:

apt-cache depends preenv
This will tell you which dependencies you need. Install the deps with apt-get.

However, provided you have all relevant repo´s enabled, your dependencies should be solved automatically by running as root

Code:

apt-get install preenv

Re: Preenv: Incompatible application package?

yeah all repos are enabled, im getting error
that packages are missing, obselete or is only available from another source and
package preenv has no installation candidate?

its weird how a reflash would make it dissapear? :(

Re: Preenv: Incompatible application package?

can you paste the exact error messages you´re getting with the various methods of installing?

The developer of Preenv actively monitors the following 2 threads:

http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=64392
http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=39809

Might be worth posting issues related to Preenv there...

Did you update your repos after enabling them?
Code:

root
apt-get update

Re: Preenv: Incompatible application package?

i have done an apt-get update yeah :(

ive noticed thats its not just preenv that wont be found. Nitdroid-Installer is also not found. Some apps that i had installed before flashing rootfs are now missing from repositories (mupen64, unrar and unzip add on for file manager) but others are still there (ines, picodrive etc)

ive today tried flashing the EMMC with the guide from the wiki to try and start completely fresh, but ive had no joy flashing it :( im working from a mac 10.4.1 and to run maemo flasher mac needs 10.5 and above :(
ive managed to get 770flasher to reflash rootfs but doesnt seem to work with EMMC :(

dont know whats going on with it atm :(

Check your applied repos with integrated nokia file manager and then refresh your repos with it. What does it tell you?
