Re: making apps for n900
My best effort to get something was by downloading it:
Maemo_Ubuntu_Lucid_Desktop_SDK_Virtual_Image_Final .7z from here: http://tablets-dev.nokia.com/maemo-d...-downloads.php Sounds like it has everything set up to run in a virtual machine. I'm yet to look for an explanation of what to do with what I get. by that I mean how do I put the programs I would do into the evironment that is opened in xephyr? Why there's no busybox/bash/etc into xephyr(the thing simulating a nokia n900)? |
Re: making apps for n900

Re: making apps for n900
why the python hate??? If you are saying you want to develop on the phone itself(?) it is very fast to get something up and running.... (inner-spin was developed solely on my n900 to stave off boredom on comutes)... Other options are possible, gcc can be installed directly on device but it is a fairly laborious process.

Re: making apps for n900
If you like C++ you may try Qt Framework. A nice manual is "C++ GUI Programming with Qt 4".
This youtube channel is also a gold mine for C++ and Qt. |

Re: making apps for n900
Qt allows you to create applications for Maemo, Symbian, and Meego as well as common desktop platforms Windows, Mac and Linux.
So: 1. Download and install the Qt SDK from here. 2. Learn Qt. Here is one place to start. 3. Learn QML and QtQuick (here) 4. Go crazy writing apps! 5. ??? 6. Profit! If you're interested in Python, then there are Python bindings for Qt as well. Python is not a must - It depends entirely on what you're comfortable with. |
