Easy Generic Linux

Easy Debian (Chroot) is working great, but it lacks on up to date distros which are compiled without thumb2. Would be nice to use all the common linux tools with their newest version, instead of waiting for meego. How about a community supported generic distro?

afaik, there is no such thing as a "generic distro".

When you glue up a custom set of tools, you are making a new one.

Maybe the effort could be upgrading the existing easy debian to something newer

The generic linux distro is a distro which is only CLI and contains only a shell with a linux kernel.

I want to use Ubuntu, but the newest useable version is Karmic!
Since then, Ubuntu is compiled with thumb2. which causes random reboots on N900. The other OSes are as quite as old, when i say generic linux i think of an environment where common programms could be precompiled without optifying and fitting their gui to maemo. For example: (real) Firefox, Gimp, Inkscape, OpenOffice, Eclipse, Kile and so on...

Dude, you have just solved the mystery! I have been trying to run ubuntu (maverick, natty) in chroot for ages and didn't know the cause of random reboots. Never heard anything about "thumb2"...
