install failed..
 

Hi all.

I am new to this forum.

I tryed to install "prey" a mobile locations GPS anti theft software for ubuntu.. But did not install.

I am playing with nitdroid right now, but when I try to install in xterminal

root
apt-get install nitdroid-installer <-- when this is starting i get the error message:

"E: The package prey needs to be reinstalled, but I cant find an archive for it"


Anybody knows how to get this prey app removed proper?

Have you tried "dpkg -r prey"?

Yes i have, gives me an error of package is in bad state / incomplete and i should try and reinstall before uninstall. This i have tryed also... Any other ideas? (and thanks for the input)

You probably need one of the --force options then - the man page would suggest that "dpkg -r --force-remove-reinstreq prey" should do it. That can leave some bits of the package installed, but should get apt working properly again.

Thanks! It worked!

But now i get another error, but that is when installing the nitdroid.

Anybode can help with that? When it reached the part were it download nitdroid.manifest i get a failed error.. cant download the file..
