Seems like an error with the SIM card. Is it even in?

If I put the SIM in another N900 does not appear.
If I insert another SIM does not appear.

It has something to do with the SIM not being recognized by your phone. I too had this problem a couple of weeks ago because it seems my SIM was beginning to fail. Had it changed and the icon disappeared.

this comes on my phone when there is no sim card inserted...when ever there is a problem with the sim i get no signal but this sign only comes when no sim is inserted( in my case at least)

flashing will be your last resort..i think so..

maybe is the Phone firmware, you don't need to reflash all the fiasco, u can just reflash the Phone Firmware (i mean the phone drivers used to make, receive calls etc)

Or just try another SIM and if it works all it means is that you need a new SIM to replace the bad one... And all that icon means is that the N900 thinks there is no SIM inserted.
