How do I make a .deb file from python source (in Windows 7)

Hi,

I tried to modify an app that was written in python, and I feel that I've done it successfully, but I don't know how to make an installable .deb file from it.

Does anyone know how I can make an installable .deb file from a python source file for the N900 using Windows 7 (*deep breath*)?

Thanks in advance.

You need the Maemo Scratchbox SDK to package apps as .deb files and submit them to the autobuilder for dissemination. Scratchbox is made to run under Ubuntu Linux, but there is an effort to allow it to run inside Windows here:

there are virual appliance images available to run within virtual box (free)or vmware server (free)or workstation:
you'll need a bit of free memory and a free gb free on the disk but could be an option.

Use pypackager, it's extra-devel app for n900, read the instruction and
package your python files then upload to extra repository via maemo extra-assistant to build it for you, then you can get the deb file from there.

I use Py2deb on my n900. Works like a charm - just edit it as-needed either on your desktop or on-device, then run it from the terminal.
Of course, the "build_myapp.py" py2deb script I have just creates the source package files, for uploading to the autobuilder, not a .deb file.

Hi, I installed pypatcher but it doesn't show up on my menus like all the other apps do.
