N900 and WP7 SD Cards
So I tried WP7 formatted SD cards on the N900 to so whether it is supported or not. I thought this might be since WP7 SD's can be accessed by the N8 ... alas that wasn't the case. But seeing that Nokia is going WP7 bound, wouldn't it be sweet if we can reformat our SD's with the N900 whenever the need requires. In any case does anyone know if it is even possible for the N900 to detect the SD once inserted?

open filemanager on your device...at the memory cards icon long press it then a popup will appear with a function called... 1.Rename  2.Details :D 3.Format  |
Re: N900 and WP7 SD Cards
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/mmcblk1
After a few seconds, format it with the file manager. Note that WP7 formats the SD in some funky Linear+Stripe RAID mode. |

I've tried: dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/mmcblk1 No luck I'm afraid, and this might become the norm with SD cards used on Nokia devices because they become FUBAR after WP7 integrates it with it's formatting method. |
Re: N900 and WP7 SD Cards
run "ls -l /dev/mmc*" and paste the contents here please.

Does it mean the N900 can atleast see the microSD but can't access it? The following is a couple of links for reference purposes: 1) http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2450831/en-us 2) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=840524 The WP7 device is formatted with CPRM: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Content...cordable_Media Making the access to it require both a hardware layer and a software layer that supports it. In the XDA forum someone said the Linux kernel has the software support required for detecting the microSD: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...1&postcount=31 |
Re: N900 and WP7 SD Cards
I would be puzzled if you would be able to use a flash card if this card was previously used in a WP7 phone. There's even a KB article which "explains" this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2450831
Maybe this article helps, didn't check as i'm travelling: http://www.amarjit.info/2011/01/how-...n-wp7-and.html |
