Double headphones
 

Hey guys.

I was wondering if I split the headphone jack to be used for two people at the same time, how much loss in sound would be expected?

Any products that you could suggest for this? I'm looking to have a "special moment" date. Don't ask. *lol*

Oh, and in case anyone has missed this past week, look into installing PyRadio.

Ohmygosh, the volume on this app pops like crazy.

The UI looks like a fluffy, cornball piece of turd (sorry Saint if you're reading this), but wow, this has to be loudest and most awesome app released this year.

Just make sure you have 62 septendecillion megs free from your internal flash, the thing is a beast to install.

any "jack to 2 jack" adapter will do and cost 10c.. you don't loose that much in power, but if you use headphones with different sensitivities, one will hear nothing and the other will lose his ears, so just take similar headphones.

I wasn't sure if by splitting the headphone jack thingy to two different headphones if that meant the sound would be cut in half.

2 headphones driven from the same jack is basically 2 resistors in Parallel.

Heh,
Glad it helped some. There's a little Opamp chip most likely for the headphone driver. When you double the amount of headphones you lower the resistance. Lower the resistance can make the load more difficult to drive if the circuit can't deliver the current or can't handle the heat load from the increased current flow.


So, I would appoach this with caution if I were the Poster. If I were me, I probably wouldn't do it at all.

The proper way to do it would be with a headphone amp.
