[Query] Maemo 5 Update, Really?
 

hey all,

today i got an update, of Maemo 5, so I came here looking for more info. but didn't find any announcment or update regarding any sort of Maemo 5 update.

Well is there any such update, in the same version? or its just an error.

This happens every once in a while - false maemo 5 updates show up in the app manager (unless you're running CSSU and a new update just popped out, but I haven't heard of that happening and usually the CSSU thread shoots to the top of the recent thread list for a while. So it's probably a false alarm - I don't remember how it gets fixed though.

I've taken over macchanger maintenance since greg wanted me to take that over after I started doing the aircrack-ng work in his place too, so it made me happy to see the update showing up. [/shameless plug]

If you're using the CSSU I don't think it's a good idea to update.

If he's using the CSSU that package shouldn't exist.

I'm assuming he installed a modified hildon-desktop,
didn't you?

apt-get update shows the original desktop as the update to the modified hildon-desktop, but crapmanager shows the small hildon-desktop update (which isn't a real update if your using a modified hildon-desktop of course) as a whole Maemo 5 update, but that only includes the original hildon-desktop as the N900 thinks that your running an outdated one.

yes i have installed CSSU and yes i have installed the protriat mode patch..

Well I am not updating it, wil just keep that update lying there.

In short, the Maemo 5 update shown is just the old hildon-desktop.
