gtalk and contacts
 

hi,

i'm seeing a problem where the contact icons do not show any online/offline status even when i am online according to the status icon.

i'm only using gtalk so it's not any other account.

i've never seen anything like this before and i've rebooted and manually gone offline/online, and even switched from wifi to celldata...with no difference.

edit:i was only using gtalk. if i sign on to facebook, the contacts show offline/online icons, so something is working, but they don't show for gtalk. it's like *i'm* not online.

any ideas?

i'm having the same problem.
it started yesterday after my own gmail account showed up as a contact.
i've tried removing the gtalk account from VOIP accounts and the reboot and readding it, but problem persists.

could it be something on google's side? change in api or something?

there's another thread that has more people experiencing the same issue.
it's possible that google changed something. Now i'm searching if there is any changelog for gtalk service.
