N900 won't turn on with power plugged in
 

Hi all,

I have this strange fault with not one but two different N900's now. They refuse to turn on when they are being charged. The only way I can get them to turn is to let them charge for an hour, remove the power cable and then turn on.

If I don't do this, it boots up to the 4 dots then turns off immediately.

Any ideas how I can fix this?

Sometimes happens on mine. Erratically though. Usually charging for a few minutes is enough, turn on and once it asks you for PIN you can plug the cable back in.

strange...u mean to say that they never bootup while charging....?

Yep, both charge absolutely fine when booted or when turned off.

What normally happens is that the battery goes flat, you go to charge it and find that it keeps on turning itself off until you reboot it with the charger disconnected.

it happens to my phone too...but i never noticed.... :p

I have a funny feeling that it only happened once I updated the kernel, but I can't know for sure. I only asked as I've just got another N900 and it does exactly the same as my other one.

Glad to know it's not just me, no idea how to fix it though.

Ok, seeing that a few people suffer from it makes me feel slightly less crazy.

One thing I did notice was that also it seems the LED behaviour is different now as well. I'm pretty sure sometimes it won't display green, even though the battery is charged. Again, does this happen to anyone else?

I have the same problem too. It is most bizarre that when charging you can not turn it on. But it is not always that way, sometimes it does turn on, but most of the time has to be unplugged. That is why I got a dumbphone like an iphone. It simply works. N900 is smartass
