New Kindle Products

1 Attachment(s)
Amazon announced a few new products today.
New Kindle = 79$
Kindle Touch = 99$
Kindle Touch 3G = 149$
Kindle Fire = 199$
the last one isn't just a reader anymore, it's a tablet now. I personally find it a good tablet without 3G
Visit amazon.com/silk to see a new browser, which has a new "split browser" architecture!

P.S. Posting it right from n900, so it's a bit messy. Add more info to it!

Re: New Kindle Products

Kindle Fire is very impressive for that price.
7" IPS screen, dual core OMAP 1ghz processor, 512RAM(that is a bit low).

Very strong showing by Amazon. If this sells like a hotcake and they manage to make this global i could it actually see them fighting there with other Android manufacturers, iOS and possibility with Windows 8 in the long term.

I preordered Fire yesterday. It will go nicely with my other two Kindles.

It looks like a sweet device, but no camera, so I won't buy it. I would like something that I ca use for video chat as well.
The new E-Ink Kindles are pretty cool though, but no reason to upgrade from my previous generation 3G Kindle.

Re: New Kindle Products

It's the perfect 7" tablet except for:
-lack of gps
-lack of usb-host
-lack of bluetooth
-lack of gyro
-lack of expandable memory
-lack of ffcamera
-lack of hdmi-out
-could do with 1GB RAM
-could add SIM slot for global telephony and 3G support

... ... those additions would cost Amazon roughly $20 per unit, and I would be happy to pay an extra $100 as a customer.
