File manager with GUI for Nokia 770

Is there any file manager or shell with GUI and system browsing capability, so that it would eliminate usage of XTERM? Like old time Norton Commander.

You can open xterm and do the following:

Code:

cd /home/user/MyDocs
ln -s / System

Now open Nokia's filemanager and you will be able to browse the whole file system.

I haven't tried this one yet.

I like gpe-filemanager personally. Just wish there was a way to show hidden files/folders (ie- .documents etc etc).

After trying all suggested solutions I would say that the only one that looks to be functional and works fine is gpe-filemanager (besides original built in). Completely agree with kahmeal. Just one feature that I'm missing there is possibility to display hidden files.
Thank you.

How is gpe-filemanager different from Canoe?
Canoe lets you view and browse all the dir....

Canola shows more than gpe-filemamager. But it was slow and not very stable, at least on my Nokia 770. And for somebody who used to 'normal' file manager, I was not able to find really good solution.

I was wrong about Midnight Commander. This is very close to what I was looking for. The only one drawback is that it is necessary to get used to it.
Some features require to zoom out (F10). Ans pop-upping virtual keyboard is very confusing. Is there any way to disable virtual keyboard and enable it only in case you really need it?

Yes, in the terminal, type

maemo-gtk-im-switch xim

To re-enable it later:

maemo-gtk-im-switch osso
