Messages between Devices over WiFi
hi
How can I simply send a message from my N900 to another N900 or laptop (Ubuntu) through WiFi Lan? Thinking of cutting phone bills thanks in advance |

Email is pretty simple too. Never overlook the obvious :)

but wifi has to be connected to the internet, but what about when not connected to the internet and only wifi lan is available? |

A local wifi's range wouldn't be that huge. Can't you just shout your message or walk a bit and tell the person directly?

Re: Messages between Devices over WiFi
I remember long ago in my university times, you could simply, while sitting on a pc, simply write a message to another pc through the terminal. You just had to know his login name.
So as soon as he logs in, he could read the message. Now, in my case, we don't have a login name, except when using bluetooth a name has to be defined. But ip is unique for each device.... Is it possible then to simply pass a message through the xterminal? |

yep, Bonjour, aka people nearby on ubuntu, is a p2p LAN/WAN chat service.
But for example my cr*ppy router don't handle it correctly (no connection to wifi hosts...), so it does not always work. |

Does Asterisk got text messaging capabilities or just voice?
