Repository manager/browser for Harmattan?
I keep wondering why there is no repository app for the Harmattan while the N900 had it by default.
Many of us are missing some great community apps by creating their own repository. Why isn't there just a default community repository like we used to have it on the N900? Also, managing and browsing the repositories would be very nice. Something like we had on the N900 (Faster Application Manager) would be very great! |
Re: Repository manager/browser for Harmattan?
I can't tell you why there isn't a proper application manager pre-installed, but I think Martin Grimme (author of MediaBox) is working on a community application manager for Harmattan. The delay in the setting up of community repositories seems to be largely due to some douche-like behaviour from the Linux Foundation in response to Nokia's decision to dump MeeGo in February.

so it's up to us again to clean up the mess that they left behind like they did on Maemo 5....

A maemo.org repository is out of the question then? We need somewhere that we can put things with dependencies on other packages.

This would be so nice! Reposity mageri is one strong thing on the maemo (N900). I don't know why Nokia is not support own devices.. It feels, that Microsoft devices is more important.. odd..
