N9 - PR1.1 Change Log

One place for us to collect all the new features that the PR1.1 is bringing to the N9 and any bugs it has fixed.

I will start with what I have found (personally or through other peoples posts). Please share your discoveries and I can collate them in this first post for everyone to see.

New Features

1. Music controls on lock screen (as well as the ability to see the signal bar/battery strength etc)
2. Photo and video shooting with color filters: black & white, sepia, vivid, negative, solarise.
3. Swype (not to be confused for Swipe).
4. Close apps easily by swiping down turned on by default.
5. Faster MfE synch, synchronizing only active folders
6. Noise cancellation reduces background noise so that your friends hear you better.
7. New indicators for standby screen like charging and calendar etc.
8. You can now upload pictures to Twitter directly through the 'sharing' function.
9. Switching between VKB has changed. Previously you could swipe from the middle to change but now its from the side.
10. Better/smoother scrolling. E.g. In the contacts list.
11. Better multi-tasking. Native apps especially open much faster. App Store loads and operates much more smoothly.
12. New way to set default avatars (Settings->Applications->Contacts)
13. Gallery - New presentation of how pictures are displayed. You can now scroll using date ranges.
14. Bluetooth now has a on/off button on the pull down bar by default. Previously you had to enable this view in settings.

Fixed Bugs

1. It is easier to bring up the VKB when typing a SMS. Previously you would have to hit the typing area multiple times.


New bugs PR1.1 has bought

1. Someone has reported that the twitter app is no longer functioning. Update: - Works for some and not for others. Try removing/readding the account.
2. Dark theme issues. When you hit the context menu in an app the background doesnt 'darken'.
3. Camera not working? Read this thread
4. Swipe Manager broken? Download the updated one from here . Might need to use terminal to install this package after downloading the file to your N9.
5. Character count in SMS not visible when switching between normal vkb and swype. (Bug or feature?)
6. Facebook not working? Delete account and add again. This seems to solve some Account issues.
7. Random app installation issues. Can people elaborate?

Yeah opera mobile 11.1 combined with my postwork mind isnt always the best at distinguishing numbers it seems. But it got sorted, so all is well :P .

Wonder what the "more powerful multi tasking" actually means. Has anyone noticed a smoother experience?

Update: Apparently the apps are opening a lot faster. I havent noticed this.

My experiences of pr 1.1 so far.

- Overall speed improvements, multitasking works faster and without lag, (native) apps startup is faster, Syncing is faster
- Store works faster
- Facebook app is IMO quite much better
- New icons in titlebar for different kinds of notifications



- Twitter app ain't working at all, can't get it running

This was there before the update I think. Found out about it just yesterday... It's a nice feature though. :)

Note: it looks like this has come as an option into phone settings. I suspect it was just enabled with no option to turn it off before. This comes from experience when my I called my girlfriend in the middle of very noisy mall, and my she thought I was still in my office until I happened to mention it to her.
