.ics attachements in emails NOT opening
Hi first time posting, i have been searching a lot but could not find an answer.
I receive ical (.ics) attachements in my email on the N9. I see a calendar logo in the email, but when i click on the logo nothing happens, when i click on the attachements i only see the .doc file or pdf file that came in with the email but not a seperate .ics file. Anyone can help me with this. |
Re: .ics attachements in emails NOT opening
Anyone else having this issue? This is really stupid...I just noticed it as well. Invitations send from Outlook are shown as calendar entries but never open!
We need a 1.4!!! (Not only for this issue) |
Re: .ics attachements in emails NOT opening
Yes. It's unfortunately part of Maemo's/Harmattan's deficiency as a PIM / Office platform.

Re: .ics attachements in emails NOT opening
I think it's a bug that wasn't addressed anymore: Just check "Meeting invites"
http://cdn.conversations.nokia.com.s...ting-01-02.jpg and http://cdn.conversations.nokia.com.s...ting-03-04.jpg on http://conversations.nokia.com/2011/...pps-explained/ I hate this Elop-Mole for letting us down! |
Re: .ics attachements in emails NOT opening
I think on meego files start with DOT like ( .anyfile) system recognizes them as hidden files, so you must rename file!

Re: .ics attachements in emails NOT opening
I don't understand the problem, works without any problems for me... Just created an event in Outlook, invited myself and sent it per email, opened it on N9, accepted the event, could send an answer, the event appears in the N9-calendar, the answer arrived in Outlook... where is the part, that is not working? or do i understand something completely wrong? |
Re: .ics attachements in emails NOT opening
don_falcone,
Just FYI my SGS2's gmail account running JellyBean when sent an ics invitation from my N9 gave this image: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/52851745/ics.jpg So although Maemo/Harmattan have their deficiencies, this is not one of them... To the OP, have you checked if this is specific to a particular calendar service? I use Exchange for my emails and calendar and it has no issues with ics handling... The following is the screenshot of my N9 after accepting an ics invitation: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/52851745/20...4_23-09-44.jpg Quote:

Re: .ics attachements in emails NOT opening
The probem I have is that I can click on the calendar "attachement" (which is reckognized as this) but nothing happens then ...
I guess the problem is caused by the invitation not being an attachment but an inline VCALENDAR entry... I tried now at home with Thunderbird/Lightening and Outlook at work BEGIN:VCALENDAR PRODID:-//Mozilla.org/NONSGML Mozilla Calendar V1.1//EN VERSION:2.0 METHOD:REQUEST BEGIN:VTIMEZONE TZID:Europe/Berlin X-LIC-LOCATION:Europe/Berlin BEGIN:DAYLIGHT TZOFFSETFROM:+0100 TZOFFSETTO:+0200 TZNAME:CEST DTSTART:19700329T020000 RRULE:FREQ=YEARLY;BYDAY=-1SU;BYMONTH=3 END:DAYLIGHT BEGIN:STANDARD TZOFFSETFROM:+0200 TZOFFSETTO:+0100 TZNAME:CET DTSTART:19701025T030000 RRULE:FREQ=YEARLY;BYDAY=-1SU;BYMONTH=10 END:STANDARD END:VTIMEZONE BEGIN:VEVENT CREATED:20130214T184716Z LAST-MODIFIED:20130214T184750Z DTSTAMP:20130214T184750Z UID:85447822-3273-4dc1-a49a-38a800a3391a SUMMARY:Neuer Termin ORGANIZER;RSVP=TRUE;CN=ME;PARTSTAT=ACCEPTED;ROLE=C HAIR:mailto :organiser@mail.com ATTENDEE;RSVP=TRUE;PARTSTAT=NEEDS-ACTION;ROLE=REQ-PARTICIPANT:mailto:participant@mail.com CATEGORIES:Feiertag DTSTART;TZID=Europe/Berlin:20130216T200000 DTEND;TZID=Europe/Berlin:20130216T210000 LOCATION:A test date TRANSP:OPAQUE CLASS:PUBLIC END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR |

off-topic: now that the forum is controlled by the community, can be get rid of this automatic smiley conversion? It's plain ridiculous!
