Dual Asus Radeon HD 6850 Crossfire
Corsair 750 Watt PSU Crossfire Certified
1TB WD Black Caviar + old 320 GB

What is most important to me is that, this rig lives up to handle the next 4 years of gaming, will it?

Great build. Would easily hold for a few more years, especially with the overcloackable CPU, which by the way I consider the best one available now if you count $/performance. But if you're looking for it to live long, why don't you get an extra 4GB of RAM. I know that 8 is plenty enough now, but RAM is currently cheap, so 4 more wouldn't set you back more than 30$.
Also, one more thing, I'm not an expert and I didn't do the math, but are you sure that you're power source is enough? You should consider that you have a very overcloack friendly CPU and account for it, and you should consider that you might upgrade your GPUs 2-3 years from now.
Also take special care when choosing the case and the cooling system.

I would pick an i7 then at least for the CPU

Well yeah, what's the difference?
Haven't you been introduced to the new Sandy Bridge?
The i5 2500K is easily overclockable to 4.5 GHz, is a quad core processor with 4 threads, and features an intel HD 3000 GPU built in itself in a way or another.
I am mostly in love with Virtu on my z68 chipset, really intelligent. It switches on the main 6850s when on load and the intel graphics when not gaming.
The intel graphics HD 3000 matches an ATI 5450 in its performance, not bad at all.

Well I was a bit confused first whether to pick that or an i7 2600K, both are quad-cored CPUs, but the i7 features 8 threads. I didn't give a crap to be honest, what can 4 extra threads do?
Yes, it is the ultimate price vs. performance CPU, really blazing fast. My power source is sufficient, I did the math.
I may get some extra RAMs, but not now. Thinking about GPU upgrades is yet very early, the 6850 is an amazing card, with crossfire, it is a good setup. The 6850 is very overclockable (more than the 6870) and cheaper than the 6870 which was one of its pros.

hey

im running a similar setup atm and i must admit it is 1 quick setup,
Not found any game it struggles wit,h and carnt see anything wrong with it lasting at least a good 2/3 years.

Must say alot of people are now pushing 5ghz from the I5 carnt get it past 4.8 myself but scared of pushing it to far :p

Damn them! I'm running a MacbookPro and there is no way to overclock.. Nope... Not going to bootcamp Windows.. Just can't... Eww.. ;)

I have the i7 @2.7ghz (3.5ghz turbo boost).
I plan in this lasting me until the 13" MBP has quadcores..

Sorry, I dont think it will be able to live up to handle the next 4 years of gaming. Maximum for 2 year, not more than that.
Seeing the advancement in industry, there are better parts coming in every 3-4months.. I recommend changing/upgrading parts after every 6 month. Go now.
In any case, your current rig is great. As for now, it will work greatly.
